Our Males

Our Young or Adult Dogs for Placement

We may have adults available for retirement or in a breeding contract.

- Retirement Placement:

Retirement placements will be for adults, either younger or older, and will be placed either sterilised or in a sterilisation contract. The adoption of an adult must be carefully considered, and depending on the dog, a strict protocol will be implemented. Some placements are for dogs that are not suitable to become future breeders in our breeding programme.

- Placement in a Breeding Contract:

We aim to remain a small breeding centre so that each dog can have its own place with all the care it needs throughout its life. Some puppies may have all the qualities to be part of our "breeding programme," while other dogs need to be the only dog in the home to thrive. For certain dogs, we offer the opportunity to become a foster family. This means you welcome a dog or puppy for free or at a very low cost, and the dog in question participates in its breeding duties: litters, matings, or shows. All criteria are defined and negotiated between the family and the breeding centre. Each breeding contract is unique. Feel free to contact us, perhaps a puppy can be entrusted to you!

The Miniature American Shepherd

The Miniature American Shepherd is a new breed in France. It has been recognised by the Fédération Canine Internationale (FCI) since 2019. This breed closely resembles its relative, the Australian Shepherd. However, it stands out due to its smaller size.

Breed Criteria

Head

Clearly defined, strong, and dry. In proportion to the body.

  • Cranial Region: Skull: The top is flat or slightly rounded, with a slight occipital protuberance. The skull is as wide as it is long. Stop: Moderate, well-defined.
  • Facial Region: Nose: In blue merles and blacks, the nose is black (like the lips). In red merles and reds, the nose is brown (like the lips).

Merles may have small pink spots on the nose. However, these spots should not cover more than a quarter of the nose in dogs over one year old, as this is a serious fault.
Muzzle: Its length is equal to or slightly less than that of the skull. From the side, the upper line of the skull and the line of the muzzle are parallel, separated by a moderate but well-defined stop. The muzzle tapers slightly from base to tip and is rounded at the end. Teeth/Jaws: Full dentition; strong, white teeth. Scissor or pincer bite. Eyes: Brown, blue, amber, or any combination of these colours, including flecks and marbling.

Almond-shaped, neither protruding nor deep-set. Dogs with blue merle or black coats have black-pigmented eye rims, while red merles and reds have brown-pigmented rims.

Expression: The Australian Shepherd shows attentiveness, intelligence, alertness, and a desire to please. Its gaze should be sharp but friendly. Ears: Triangular, of moderate size, set high on the head. When very alert, they fold forward or to the side like a rose-shaped ear.

Coat

Coat quality: Of medium texture and length, straight to wavy, weather-resistant. The undercoat varies in quantity with the seasons. The coat is short and smooth on the head, ears, front of the forelegs, and under the hocks. The rear of the forelegs and the hindquarters are moderately covered.

Mane and frill are moderate, more pronounced in males than females. Coat colour: Blue merle, black, red merle, red, all these colours with or without white markings, with or without tan (copper) markings, all colours are equal. The white collar does not extend beyond the withers.

White is allowed on the neck (partially or in a full collar), chest, legs, under the muzzle, with a blaze on the head, and may extend up to 10 cm below the elbow. The white on the head should not dominate, and the eyes must be fully surrounded by coloured areas. Merles tend to darken with age.

Faults

Any deviation from the above should be considered a fault and penalised based on its severity and the effect it has on the health and well-being of the dog.

 Serious faults:

  •  Erect or hanging ears
  • Atypical coat

Exclusion faults:

  • Aggressive or fearful dogs.
  • Any dog showing obvious physical or behavioural abnormalities will be disqualified.
  • Underbite or overshot greater than 0.3 cm (1/8 inch).

Loss of contact caused by short central incisors in an otherwise correct dentition will not be considered an underbite. Broken or missing teeth due to accident will not be penalised.

  • White spots on the body, i.e., between the withers and the tail, along the sides between the elbows and the rear hindquarters, for all colours.

Note:

  • Males must have two normally descended testicles in the scrotum.
  • Only healthy dogs capable of performing the functions for which they were selected and with a morphology typical of the breed may be used for breeding.
